Laser technology transfer from Mitsubishi Electric

news_14096_1Mitsubishi Electric Company recently announced the creation of devices for laser diodes elektropoglotitelnyh modulator EAM-LD (electroabsorption modulator laser diode) and the device on the photodiodes, producing data at a speed of 40 Gbit / s. Uniqueness of the design lies in the fact that it was first presented an integrated solution that combines the monolithic laser diode and an integrated circuit for data transmission, while the combination of an integrated circuit with LED ensures stable reception of digital signal. Sharing a diode and integral element eliminates the need for signal conversion from optical to electrical format, it provides a maximum speed of the system. The new development demonstrates the possibility of reducing the size and cost of optical transceivers.

Deliveries of the first examples of a new type of product will begin April 1, 2008. The official presentation of the development will take place at the conference and exhibition dedicated to the tools of optical communications, which will be held from 26 to 28 February this year in San Diego.
